Cindy Pavlinac: Photographing the Sacred Feminine Carles, Castlerigg megalithic stone circle with surrounding landscape and astronomical alignments, Lake District, Keswick, Cumbria, England. One of the largest, and oldest (circa 3100 B.C.E.) standing stone circles. Individual stones were carved along the tops to echo the landscape horizon when viewed from the center of the circle.
